The part of the summer bridge that most interested me was being able to learn more about the ecosystem of the Chesapeake Bay through research. Though the research that we did I was able to learn how the smallest parts of this ecosystem, such as algae can have such a large-scale effect on its overall health. I was also able to learn more about individual organisms living in the bay, with the added benefit of being able to observe them in their natural habitat. The biggest thing I took away from this experience was learning hands on skills in the field of research while being able to fully apricate the importance of the Chesapeake Bay.
