Great Backyard Bird Count

Picture1SCNC and Woodlake Community Association (WCA) host  Woodlake GBBC in February .  Many citizen scientists, from three year olds to 70 year olds, enjoy finding and counting birds in an early spring day with SCNC members. The GBBC participants count birds in Tom Sawyer Bay and Shelter Cove area and submit the data as a group while learning more about citizen science. 

 

 

Woolridge Elementary Bluebird Project

markdolfiSCNC member, Mark Dolfi leads a bluebird conservation project at Woolridge Elementary School. Mark and club members established 5 bluebird nest boxes in school premises in spring 2017 and have been monitoring with elementary students. This project provides valuable opportunities for elementary kids to connect with nature, learn about wildlife in the area and how they can help protect wildlife and habitats.
