- What is habit-stacking? How might you use this concept to improve your work habits?
Habit stacking is plugging in another habit into a already established one. The formula James Clear gives is “After [CURRENT HABIT], I will [NEW HABIT] (Clear, 2018). To improve my work habits I would habit stack after I open my computer I will immediately check my email and canvas, I can even add more stacks like after I check my email and canvas I will respond to anything that is needed. Another way I would use this method is after I check assignments, I will open my blog and start working on the assignment.
2. According to the first law of behavior change, to develop a new, better habit one “makes it obvious”, to eliminate a bad habit one “makes it invisible.” Explain how you would use this concept to make a good work habit obvious and a bad work habit invisible.
To make my good habit “obvious”, every time I do work on my computer I should always leave my email, canvas, and blog tabs up therefore every time I open my computer I get right to work instead of doing other things. To make a bad habit “invisible” I need to read and do homework not in my room where my PlayStation is so therefore I will not be tempted to play video games.
