Week 2

  1. the for elements of the habit feedback loop. Explain what each is using a personal example from your own work habits.

The habit feedback loop goes as follows: Cue, Craving, Response, Reward. For the longest time I have gone to the gym and always wanted to not only look better but feel better about myself and perform at the top of my level. My cue is that everyday I wake up and look at myself and want to be better. My craving is to look better in my own opinion and put on muscle. So therefore, my response is to go to the gym and train as hard as I possibly can. My reward is that I am satisfied and feel that I have made progress to a healthier and stronger body, and associate bettering myself with going to the gym.

2. What are the 4 laws of behavior change? In the spirit of raising your own level of awareness, make a habits scorecard of the behaviors you engage in to complete work this internship. What is one behavior you have become more aware of as a result?

The 4 laws of behavior change are (1) make it obvious, (2) make it attractive, (3) make it easy, and (4) make it satisfying.

Habits Scorecard:

Read (+)

Drink Energy Drink (=)

Procrastinate (-)

Make phone calls (+)

Check email (+)

Not writing things down (-)

Staying up late (-)

Updating Blog (+)

One behavior I have become more aware of is my time management. I feel that if I was actually at my facility completing the internship “normally” then I wouldn’t need to do as much time management, because I’m actually there doing it. With the internship being virtual and being at home, I have other distractions and things going on around me such as the gym, video games, family, girlfriend, pets, etc. so I have to have good time management to get all of my work done in a timely manner before getting to do my leisure activities.
