Week 5

  1. Leisure education is used with virtually every RT client. Using the idea of increasing friction towards bad habits and decreasing friction toward good ones, explain how you might use this concept in the facilitation of RT services with a client from your mentor’s agency.

 Increasing friction towards bad habits means to create more steps towards starting up that habit, and decreasing friction is the opposite which is having there be less steps to perform the habit. For an example of incorporating this for someone at PACE, for less friction I would bring the game/activity to the table the client likes to be at instead of having them come to me, so then the activity might seem more enjoyable. For more friction I might put away different games away in the closet so they are not out and around other tables during different interventions, this way it would be harder for them to play the games and participate in the activity more.

   2. Consider your own work habits. How might you use the two-minute rule            to stop procrastinating in your work?

“When you start a new habit, it should take less than two minutes to do” (Clear, 2018). With the use of the two-minute rule every morning after I open my energy drink, I will turn on my computer and open my blog and email. This will cue me everyday in the morning to start working on some of the assignments and tasks that are due that week.

The student completed a reflective writing blog post according to the assignment description to include replying to all questions in a narrative (paragraph) format.

Learning Outcome: Attendance & Participation

The student was on time to the book club meeting, attended the entire session, and participated actively and independently in the discussion/activities presented.
