In honors English 201, we read several books in order to analyze different cultures through literature. We discovered common themes in different cultures, and explored how they related to us now. Our class examined many classics such as the works of Homer, Virgil, and Voltaire. At the beginning of this class , I assumed I would be just be reading books and writing papers. However, this class went much more in depth into teaching us about how concepts from books written hundreds of years ago, relate to us today. Each class we had in depth conversations about how previously written literature affects are common perceptions today. From this class I learned that long in-grained beliefs are hard to change. As people, we must learn from the past in order to improve our future.
