This class was also taught by Dr. Dudley-Shotwell, and even though I was excited about taking the class, by the end of it I was a little disappointed. I love learning about history from all over the world and about all different cultures and people, but this class almost felt like repeat of my citizenship class I took in the fall. The main focus tended to be on minorities which ended up feeling like a refresher course instead of really learning about history. We had a few topics that were just about American history, and they were the most engaging to me. The homework also was very similar because we had readings and annotations due each week, but in this class we also had book reading and videos to watch.
The final project was also similar to the citizenship final in the sense that I had to create a mock BuzzFeed article using readings, lectures notes and any videos from the class. Even though this felt similar to a previous final, it ended up being very different, and a lot more fun to do than the other final.
