Citizen 110

The first honors class I took was citizen 110, bodies and citizens. Going into the class, I was unsure of what to expect. I wasn’t as interested in it as some of the other classes that my friends were taking. However, once I was in the class I really enjoyed it. Even though at first I was uninterested in the topics, by the end of the class I really liked what we were learning and how it was related to our everyday lives. The class gave me more or new facts about discrimination against certain minority groups. With these new facts I was able to make informed opinions about minority groups that related to my final project. The final project was to make a mock syllabus about a topic of our choice. I liked the freedom we were given with the project and how open ended it could be.

I thought the grading of the assignments was fair and equal. We had readings and annotations that were due every week. Those readings would help us participate in the discussions. Class participation was also very fair, because even though it was required, it was a mix of discussions and asking questions during lectures. We didn’t have exams which I thought was interesting but it was nice to not have a while unit of learning based off of a single exam.
