Hello and welcome!
My name is Avion Saylor-Mills, I graduated May 2023. My degree is in social work and my minor is creative writing. I chose social work because I enjoy helping others, but I like to extend my helping hand further as in finding resources and understanding the person as a whole. I chose creative writing because of my ability to write different forms such as short story and poetry; with my writing I am able to connect with the readers on a deeper level. I hope that I can incorporate my creative writing with my social work as well.
Now that I have graduated, I accepted an offer from the University of Virginia as a Discharge Planner. I plan to continue my education further and obtaining my master’s degree in social work. I would love to work as a school social worker because I like working with young adolescents and children. I believe that children view the world differently which is why I would want to work with that population.
