Survey Question
The research question that we intend to find an answer to is, do activities that require parental participation encourage parental involvement in a child’s academic career? To operationalize the dependent variable the survey will include the following question, “How many items did the child find during the activity?” For participants to achieve the SMART objectives, the child must be able to identify all the items listed relating to the fall season. In regard to operationalizing the independent variable, we’ve included the next question in our survey. “Do you think being involved in this activity will encourage your child’s academic success in the future?” The questions we’re providing are in good standing with the guidelines for asking research questions. The questions we are asking are descriptive, explanatory, and exploratory. We didn’t include questions that would promote bias, we refrained from using double-barreled questions and all our questions are relevant for finding out if “Family Fun Time Activities” encourage parental involvement. The best ways to carry out practices of survey research include identifying our audience and analyzing their responses. Our audience in this case is parents of children who are currently enrolled in Head Start. Once we receive all the questionnaire answers, our team will then analyze each response and calculate the averages. Patterns will emerge from each question which will lead us to whether the activity was successful in accomplishing each objective and our initial research question of if “Family Fun Time Activities” encourage parental involvement.
