Students will be able to analyze critically and apply the major principles of
organismal biology.
For organismal biology I took biology 301 Anatomy and Physiology I. I really enjoyed this class because I have always been fascinated by the human body and things it can do. My group decided to do a research project looking if pupil dilation along with other factors is an indicator if someone is lying. This is because there is a lot of research on this, but not many conclusive results have been found.
Another research experiment I did on my own during my internship at a strength and conditioning facility was testing whether vision training helps increase reaction time in young athletes. This was an incredibly fun experiment because I got to work with athletes and help them improve their skills. This experiment confirmed for me that I want to work with people while still doing research which helped me define my career path in clinical trials. This was the first time I completely designed and implemented an experiment all on my own. This helped my skills on time management, working with others, and working with “participants” and how to conduct the experiment with them.
