Service

I embody the pillar of service because I believe that helping others is the best way to better yourself. By putting yourself out there and sticking your neck out for other individuals you are able to experience new things and just what exactly you are willing or not willing to do.

I often believe that you can serve someone in many different ways. It doesn’t always have to be service projects like planting trees in an empty field or running a blood drive, but small acts like paying for a stranger’s coffee, offering a friend a ride home, starting a conversation with someone who really just looks miserable, or even just smiling at a stranger. Acts of service do not have to be grandiose gestures but rather small acts of kindness in which you go out of your way to make someone better. In doing so you are doing a service to someone else, whether it is helping a friend pass a class by studying with them, helping a stranger make it to their class on time by holding the door open to them, or even being a nice shoulder to cry on. I embody the pillar of Service through the many small acts that I complete throughout the day, because my day is never complete until I know that I’ve helped someone find their smile.
