Pharmacology is a requirement for nursing majors at the junior level. My fellow classmates and I turned this course into a split section of honors and added a final project to the end at the end of the semester. This course challenged me with the extreme focus on memorization of hundreds of different medications. I highly enjoyed the honors portion of this course as it allowed me to dig deeper into a topic of my choice the intrigued me. It allowed me to learn and understand a part of pharmacology that I probably would not have explored otherwise. For my project, my partner and I chose to research drug recalls in the united states and used one drug in particular, Ranitidine (Zantac), to focus on. This assignment opened my eyes to the measures taken to ensure safe, effective medications used in healthcare and what steps are taken to have them removed. Without honors, I would not have had the opportunity to explore this topic and expand my understanding of the healthcare system.
