Goal 4: Appreciation of Music

I was really excited to take this class because music has always been a passion of mine since I was in choir and acapella growing up in school.  Even though we mainly listened to and learned about a lot of old, classical music that most people my age are not super interested in, I still enjoyed this class and all that it had to offer.  I learned a lot about the different types of music and how music has influenced the world as a whole.  The best part of this class was that we got to go on a trip to the Opera in Richmond to sort of wrap up.  This was an amazing experience that I would have never thought I would have enjoyed.  I think this class really showed me the reason for these general education classes because it broadens your mind and opens you up to new things that you would have never sought out yourself.

Below is the final paper for this course.  We had to pick a specific song from an older era and relate it to an aspect of out major.  Since I am a nursing major, I decided to pick a slow, classical song and relate it to music used for prenatal and postnatal babies.
