Longwood Freshman Seminar, or LSEM for short, is a required class for all incoming freshman at Longwood. This class focuses on getting freshman acclimated to the university and learn how to thrive as a college student. My LSEM class helped me find myself in college. It allowed me to make immediate friends and interact with people that also were interested in the same career as me. LSEM was one of the stepping stones that helped me break out of my shell at college and really be myself. It was a laid-back kind of class that focused on the students and how we were feeling throughout the semester and what issues we were having. LSEM required a number of journal entries that ranged from discussing the book freshman were required to read to talking about resources on campus. This particular journal entry focused on time manages ment as a college student. My class was required to use an app to track sleeping, studying, exercise, and more for about a week. It allowed me to see where all of my time is going and if I needed to make adjustments to my new college lifestyle or not.
