Reflection
When this project got introduced I was concerned that I would not be prepared enough to complete a mixed method study. While completing this project we incremented our research into sections to provide emphasis on the main points of our analysis. We went into complete depth while completing our research and found accurate data that lead us to believe that we could expand this project in the near future. While completing this this research we completed it into multiple sections which were: research questions, a literature review, data and methods, qualitative , quantitative sections.
The only complication I had was writing the literature review because that was the first time I ever had to write one and relate it back to research I was doing. Once I completed the literature review it gave me more information and data that I needed to further my research. While looking for resources to use to I look for data and research relevant to my research question. Some sources I found were very informative, but were not relevant to my research question. The research I found was very informative and helped me gain research for what I should look to get the parents more involved. Once I completed my research I did not add any more sources because I found a good amount of research and data that helped me feel more prepared to go in to my mixed method study I was conducting. Some challenges I faced while completing this mixed method study was collecting all 86 surveys from the families that participated in this mixed method study. It was hard to get all the data we needed, but we did receive a great amount of data from those families who did send back the surveys. Some parent also did not fill out every question on the survey, so it was hard to collect accurate data on those questions the families did not complete.
After this mixed method research I felt more prepared to complete another study like this as well as it gave me a better sense on how to complete a mixed method study. I felt nervous going into this project, but after this study was completed I feel more prepared to conduct another study similar to this.
To think like a researcher means to have informative ideas and to be opened minded and prepared for many challenges. To think like a recherche to me mean to think outside of the box and be prepared for any complications and how one might solve it. Make sure one think outside of the box as well as come up with multiple trials to make sure ones data is accurate.
