Currently, I am a junior at Longwood University in the field of criminal justice. Academically I have worked diligently to maintain my 3.822 GPA. As an individual, others find me to be a person that is easy to work with because I have a lot of patience and a open mind to new ideas. I strive to complete each task I am assigned to the best of my ability. I pride myself on my strong work effort and urgency to complete assigned tasked to the best of my ability. Experience I have within the criminal justice field includes interning at Harris, Matthews, and Crowder with attorney Cal Spencer. Within this internship I acquired numerous skills such as conducting legal research, organization, and note taking skills. I also developed eyesight to another prospective of law that I have yet to seen. This internship influenced me to aspire to apply for law school to become an attorney. My school work ethic can be reflected upon my 3.822 GPA. Also, my academic achievement can be highlighted with memberships in the criminal justice honor society and phi kappa phi a nationally recognized honor society that only accepts the most prestige students. My work ethic can be reflected upon by my past and current employers, consistent raises, and new job opportunities that I am offered.
Before college I attended Central High School where I developed much of my leadership skills though sports teams. As the captain of my high school football team I lead my team to the state semi-finals, which shows by ability to efficiently lead. As the captain of a football team I had to ensure to set a good example for other teammates who looked up to me for advice. Also, as the MVP of my school’s track team I was also frequently called upon for assisting other members of the team with advice. I find myself to be a leader in most circumstances that require leadership. Usually I take the role of organizing group meetings and assigning tasks within groupwork that is assigned in classes. I find leadership to be important when dealing with critical situations, and I can sufficiently lead under stressful circumstances.
The content within my ePortfolio contains work completed within my English 400 class. Contents include journal entries, a rhetorical analysis, and the common good project. The purpose of my ePortfolio is to demonstrate to future employers some of my accomplishments during my English 400 class. This also introduces myself and shows what some of my qualifications are. My ePortfolio should give my audience a general idea about the type of person I am. The projects completed in English 400 improved and expanded my citizen leadership skills by expanding my knowledge on how to better connect and influence an audience. The common good project that my group completed gave me a unique prospective on current public issues. My development as a citizen leader has improved since taking this course giving me the skills and knowledge needed to make a difference in the community by taking the role of a citizen leader with knowledge about how to persuade diverse audiences, how to use different formats in relevant circumstances, analyzing other texts to find their purpose and efficiency, and I also better understand how general education is intertwined with every job regardless of the potential jobs.
