One time in Sociology 101, we did this activity where there were 10 volunteers who were called up to the front with 10 chairs, and 1 of them acted as the top 1% of Americans financially. So that 1 person had over half of the chairs while the others were forced to sit on the ground or in somebody’s lap. When it got to the top 10% of Americans financially, that 1 person had 9 of the 10 chairs, so those 9 other people had to share 1 chair.
