After taking this honors course in the Fall of 2015, I was much more prepared to work with a classroom full of kids. I now understand the cognitive development of children which helps me understand why kids make some of the decisions they make. I also loved the environment of the classroom because everyone got along and had open discussion often. I was also the only male in the class which was an interesting change. The professor often called on me for my opinion due to this, but I did not mind because I normally enjoy participating in class. Although I am not going to become a teacher anymore, I hope I am able to use the concepts I learned in class to become a better parent in the future.
