French Fairy Tales
This class filled my Global Citizenship or Aesthetic Perspective of my Perspectives Requirement for the Civitae curriculum. In this class, I learned about the fairy tales that I grew up with, but was introduced to them in a new light. I read different versions from different cultures of the classic fairy tales. The class went even deeper than just reading the fairy tales. We discussed how fairy tales were affected by the evolution of society. This is one of the reasons why fairy tales have lasted as long as they have. I did enjoy this class. Because it was an intersession class, the class was very fast paced and sometimes difficult to keep up with. I did a lot of the readings and notes at work when I wasn’t very busy in order to get my homework done on time. But overall, I enjoyed learning about the impact and evolution of fairy tales.
My artifact is my final paper. For this assignment, I had to research and compare three works from the class. This required good use of the secondary sources and close readings that we looked at in class. Luckily, I had already noticed a connection and some patterns between some of our fairy tales and had a good base to start on for the paper.
