Writing and Rhetoric
I normally do not enjoy writing essays for an English class, but I was really surprised by this class. I was able to write essays in the format that I wanted and write about topics that I was interested in. Whenever I had to write an essay for this class, I actually enjoyed my writing.
This class was different from other English classes because we did not have to read a single book as a class. This class focused solely on writing, which I believe helped keep my interest in the class. Instead of focusing on what other authors had written, we got to focus on our own work and how to make our writing better. We were also given some freedom when it came to the format of our writings. One of my assignments was a powerpoint that went along with a narrative that I had written.
Below is my favorite essay that I wrote for the class. There is actually a story that goes along with this essay. The essay was due in class, but the night before when I planned to finish my essay, I crashed my car. I did not get back to my dorm until after midnight. I thought I wasn’t going to finish in time. My saving grace was that I had written an outline that allowed me to easily finish my essay and still get some sleep.
