Inquiry Into Citizenship – Choosing Well, Acting Right, Being Good

Because the curriculum this year was brand new, I didn’t quite know what to expect from this class. I honestly did not expect to learn about philosophers. Initially, I thought I would struggle greatly in this class for a few reasons. First, it was a brand new class. Second, philosophy does not have a good reputation among most people. I was afraid that the material would be very hard to understand. Finally, I thought I would have trouble in the class because I would not be interested in any of the material. However, I really enjoyed this class because we learned about how being a good citizen is defined by different philosophers. The professor, Dr. Blincoe, did a great job of keeping us engaged in the material. This class required a lot of reading, but the discussions after each reading in class were really beneficial. Dr. Blicoe’s lectures mixed with the discussions we had really helped to make the material easy to understand.

Below are my notes for the Utilitarianism unit.
