CRIM 495

Sex Crimes

For the Criminal Justice degree at Longwood, I am required to take a certain amount of credit hours in electives. This class is one of those electives. In this class, I learned about crimes involving sex and actual sex crimes (there’s a difference). I enjoyed this class because I’ve always been interested in this topic. I took this class because I wanted to learn what goes on in an offenders head when they commit a sexual offense. I didn’t learn exactly what goes on in their heads, but I did learn the characteristics of an offender.

This artifact is a response to a movie we watched in class, The Woodsman. This movie is about a convicted pedophile who is released from prison. The movie follows him as he tries to adapt to his life out of prison and his inner struggle. A big question throughout the movie was if he was going to offend again or not.
