World Religions
This class was a general education requirement for me. Although it had nothing to do with my major, this class was pretty interesting. I had learned about the major religions of the world in high school, but this class went much more in depth on what each religion believed. What was interesting and a little challenging about this course was that the actual religious texts from each religion were used for our readings. This provided a bit of a challenge for me personally because I had trouble sometimes understanding what the message from each reading was. I didn’t want to interpret a religion’s sacred text incorrectly, but because I was so new to many of the religions, I was unsure about their beliefs. By the end of the semester, I had a much better understanding of each religion.
We learned about the five major religions and in my final paper, I was able to connect one of the religions to my major. I enjoyed that I could incorporate my major into this assignment. It made the essay easier and more fun to write because it was about a topic that I found interesting. The artifact below is that final paper.
