MATH 135

I took Math 135 because it fulfills the Quantitative Reasoning pillar. It was also a pre-requisite for Math 171 (Statistics) which is required for my major.

This class was really interesting for me because I hadn’t taken a Math course since I was in high school. While I was nervous, I remember being really excited. Once I got into the course I realized that it was going to be a challenge because of the type of math that was being taught. At first I was getting 100’s on all of my assignments because the material was review, but as the semester went on I encountered new material that did not make sense at first. I ended up having to put in a lot of extra time and effort to make good grades. I frequently looked for help in office hours and with a tutor which was a turning point because in the past I struggled with putting myself out there to ask for help. I learned a lot about myself throughout this class and am thankful for the experiences I had, even if they weren’t all great.

The artifact I chose to include for this course was the final project. This was a group project that went really well for us as we worked really well as a team (which I don’t always find in group projects especially over Zoom). While all of the answers aren’t correct, the work we put in to this project shows. All of the members ended up going to office hours to complete the project to the best of our abilities. I’m more proud of the process of this project than the actual work that is shown. I think it was a valuable experience.
