I decided to research mental health in nineteenth-century Germany, which eventually narrowed to the current iteration of my paper, which is on literary depictions of mental health in nineteenth-century Germany, particularly in the works of E.T.A. Hoffman (who wrote, among other things, the original nutcracker book).
