The dependent variable for this ANOVA was engagement of the child. This was asked on a scale from 1 through 10. The independent variable for this ANOVA is the household income. Respondents chose between several different options which include “less than $10,000”(which had a mean engagement of 6.25), “$10,000 – $30,999”(mean engagement of 7.25), “$31,000 – $50,999”(mean engagement of 10.00), “$51,000 – $70,999”(mean engagement of 6.00), $71,000 – $90,999”(mean engagement of 2.00), “$91,000 or more”(mean engagement of 10.00), and “prefer not to answer”(mean engagement of 6.20). According to the ANOVA results (F=0.73) there is no significant difference between the means. Therefore, household income does not influence child engagement.
