Using Degree Works to Plan Majors and Minors
No matter what your current class standing, Degree Works is a great tool for planning your remaining time at Longwood. Here, you can access your current degree progress, make tentative plans about what to take in future semesters, and test out alternate majors and minors. If registration time is drawing near, Degree Works also reminds you of your registration date and time.
The following tutorial explains how to use Degree Works to run a “What-If Scenario”, which will help you determine how well a Neuroscience Studies minor can work for you presently!
- Access Degree Works by clicking here and entering your LancerNet ID and password.
- Enter the current catalog year, your planned major (and concentration, if applicable) and the minor you would like to test (why not try Neuroscience Studies?), as demonstrated below (click image to increase size):
3. When you have completed this step, press “Process What-If”.
What Will My Degree Works Transcript Show?
Degree Works will bring up a temporary transcript with all requirements for your selected scenario:
- General Education Requirements
- Major Requirements
- Minor Requirements (Everything you need to complete your Neuroscience Studies minor!)
Additionally, the report is color coded to demonstrate whether any of the courses you have taken previously can be applied to your new degree plan.
I Still Have Some Questions!
