Common Good Project
At the conclusion of the semester, in a group of three, I put together this common good project. This project was aimed to influence the community around us, specifically parents and adolescents in conflict with ADHD. Overmedication for ADHD is a growing epidemic and a topic personal to each member of my group. I experienced first hand how psychiatric medications affect a person through my sister. Medication should not be the first line treatment for ADHD as it is in many cases. This project allowed us to put the tools we learned about persuasion into practice. My team created an argument that logically presented facts, emotionally told a story, and ethically suggested a change. This project worked our communication, presentation, and team skills. These skills are all areas that I can still develop, however, through more projects like this I’m confident in my potential.
