Hi everyone! My name is Mikael Severeid, and I am a Senior Business student at Longwood University. I have a minor in Homeland Security, and a double concentration in Information Systems Cyber Security and Cyber Forensics. I’m also a member of the Professional Business Fraternity Delta Sigma Pi. Ever since I was little, I have loved to tinker and toy with electronics, and have been fortunate enough to be exposed to some of the more enriching parts of the business world. I plan to pursue work in the Business and Technology field that would allow me to improve and utilize the time and skills I have learned as a student at Longwood. I have completed an internship with a business intelligence firm in Washington D.C. for the past two summers working in the IT team for the company. I gained a plethora of invaluable real-world experience, and was able to delve into the field in which I love and plan to pursue a career in. I have the groundwork with the undergraduate degree, and plan to pursue a masters degree in addition to work experience.

For the ePortfolio that I have created, I have laid out the projects and assignments that this English 400 class has entailed. I aim to effectively display how the class has had a positive impact on me and enlightened me in how to become a more proactive and effective citizen in the community. Throughout the duration of the class, the information I gained has allowed me to become more informed about, and see differing sides and views on several issues that are problematic in our society, and better understand issues in our society. Through the use of writing, I was better able to learn more about these issues, and enable me to more effectively be a help and tackling some of these issues in society.

The course English 400 had Course Learning Outcomes that are listed as follows:
1) Engage in the process of citizen leadership by investigating multiple perspectives on important public issues;
2) Understand the nature of public discourse/debate as determined by purpose, audience, and context;
3) Choose appropriate formats in writing for a variety of purposes;
4) Analyze the effectiveness of their own texts and processes for specific rhetorical situations;
5) Understand how the knowledge, skills, and values learned in general education are interwoven and interrelated, and how they can contribute to the process of citizen leadership
