Throughout the creation of documents like the Bad News Memo, Persuasive Letter, Brochure, Press Release, and Formal Report, I have come to truly further my knowledge of writing in general. More importantly, I have found the information given in Professional Writing to give me a sense of calm when approaching the over looming threat of entering the work force. I have learned to write in a concise and effective manner that will be expected of me in the future, and I am confident that I will be able to apply it in many different professional contexts and formats.
From now on, when someone mentions a Memo in conversation, I will no longer picture a bland sheet of paper with sparse words and pie charts. I will be able to look my peers in the eye, knowing what a memo consists of and that I could confidently create one if the need arose. This course has given me a firmer grasp on how analysis is used in the work place, and how I can apply it to my future careers. While I do not know where I will land in the months that follow December, I do know that I will be utilizing the skills and techniques that I learned throughout the semester in Professional Writing.
