HIST 490-50
Virginia History Independent Study Honors Enhancement
As my second enhancement of a course, this class provided me with the chance to practice my independent research and ensuring that I can accomplish goals that I set for myself. The largest challenge I had with this course was procrastination with small readings and assignments, as I felt like I had all the time in the world to complete since I rarely ever saw my professor for the course. At first, I struggled with maintaining my personal schedule I set out with myself and my professor regarding due dates, and I put off research and reading in favor of classes that had scheduled meetings. Halfway through the semester, I felt behind, but utilized spring break to buckle down and catch up.
Overall, I think this course helped me realize a few things about myself in terms of independence, pointing out things that I still need to work on, or else risk my ambitions, namely with long-term independent research.
