Goal 6: GNED 162
Introduction to Environmental Science
While science isn’t normally at the top of my interests, the environment always has been, whether it’s about global warming, pollution, or habitats. Rather than learn just the basics of the environment, Dr. Labosier explained the basics of environmental sciences, while challenging us to think about how our everyday actions affect our surroundings. This then inspired my course project where I wrote a paper on how ‘outdoor culture’ in Richmond has both helped and harmed the James River, consisting of quotes from an interview I conducted with a family friend, outdoor enthusiast, and lover of the James, which has further spurred me to become more environmentally aware and fascinated with the outdoors.
“Just a Bunch of Hippie Talk, right?: The Relationship Between and Impact of Outdoor Culture in Richmond, Virginia on the Health of the James River,” Research Paper by Maeve Losen, Fall 2015
