Goal 3: ENGL 201-50
World Literature Honors Section
I found a lot to learn from during my time in this class. Dr. Magill exposed us to a wide variety of books and cultures, but also ways of thinking. I had never previously knew much about Japanese, Nigerian, and Haitian cultures and literature, among many others, and this exposure really opened my eyes to how there are so many more styles of writing, interpretations, and ways to tell a story, and how in literature there’s no right or wrong way to get a message across to an audience. Dr. Magill challenged us to think outside of the box and differently from western views, and study how an author used cultural context and events to shape their story. Overall, I think this can be applied in many other fields and aid us not only as students, but as people.
