Letter to Senior Self
By the time graduation comes in spring 2019, I hope to have accomplished a lot, but also have much set out for me. While earning an undergraduate degree is a rather big achievement, it doesn’t necessarily mean that my schooling will be over indefinitely.
The fall following graduation, I hope to be attending a graduate school that’s most likely up North, to further my education and knowledge of history, whether it’s in research, archive studies, or museum work. While attending graduate school, I hope to work, either coach field hockey for a club or high school team, or in a museum to earn work experience in a future field of interest.
While I love Virginia, and the history, diverse cultures, and opportunities it offers and has given me, I’m not sure how much longer I will remain after graduation. Though I am proud to call this wonderful state, and more specifically the Richmond area, as my home, and will probably miss it greatly, I miss my family just as much. The school I will attend will hopefully be up North, in the Pennsylvania or New York area, so that I’m never that far away from my parents and siblings, though frequent visits to Richmond will be a must.
Though graduating will mean a lot of change, I believe that Longwood will have prepared me for whatever lays ahead of me. I hope for a lot to happen between my freshman and senior years, but I’m also confident of the future opportunities created by my time at Longwood. By the time I graduate in 2019, I know it will be tough to say goodbye to Longwood, but I will be proud to call myself a Lancer and use my time here to help me later in life.
