What to pack: The current weather forecast for Pembroke VA is sunny all weekend with high’s in the 50’s and lows in the 40’s – but the hotel is on top of a mountain so it will probably be a little cooler up top.  It’s best to pack layers so you can adjust to the temperature and remember there is some free time for hiking – see below!  The conference itself is causal – so jeans and t-shirts are perfectly acceptable!  Remember it is a hotel – so your bed linens and towels are provided, but feel free to bring any extra comforts you might like to have.

This years theme, Millennial Leadership, will focus on the use of technology – so it’s a good idea to bring your laptop, smartphone, or any other device that will allow you to get online while at the conference.  **Please note that the Office of Leadership and Civic Engagement nor SEAL is responsible for lost or damaged items.  Please use care and desecration when packing!!

Finally – remember that alcohol is not permitted at the conference.  Anyone found violating this policy will be referred to the Office of Student Conduct and Integrity.

When and where to meet the bus: The buses will be parked between the library and the student union.  Please be at the bus, with your stuff no later than 3:30pm on Friday. The bus will depart at 4:15pm SHARP! The bus should arrive at Mountain Lake round 7:00 – at which point we’ll eat some dinner and get the party started!

If you have class until 4:00: Those of you who have class until 4:00 can drop off your stuff in my office (room 218) in the Lankford Student Union BEFORE class.  At 3:30 S.E.A.L. members will take your stuff and load it onto the bus for you. That way you can run hop on the bus right after your class ends!

If you have a smart-device, you can also download the Guidebook App to stay up-to-date with the conference!

**Returning from the conference: The bus will depart Mountain Lake around 12:30 on Sunday – which should put you back here by 4:00pm.  ONE bus will make a short stop in Roanoke for you to grab some fast food lunch – so make sure you bring a little cash!  The second bus will head straight back to campus for those needing to get back quickly.

Please don’t hesitate to email or call our office if you have other questions and concerns.  See you all on Friday!
