I enjoyed CHEM 111, but it was definitely not what I expected. I expected this class to be a lot more challenging and rigorous than it actually was. It overlapped a lot with what I had learned in my high school chemistry class, which was sometimes frustrating to me, but in the end I think it was nice to get a refresher course on the basics of chemistry, since I am a chemistry minor and will be using that information a lot during my time at Longwood.
The questing system in this class was something I really had to get used to. I didn’t really struggle in the class due to the system in place, but it did confuse me a lot throughout the semester and I think a lot of our class struggled to understand how our final grade would turn out based on the questing system. Although, I am very glad that this system is in place for CHEM 111 because it is helpful to get used to it before starting Organic Chemistry, which also follows the questing format.
The work I am submitting below is a lab report that I completed for this class. This class was my first experience writing a lab report at Longwood and I’m happy about how we did it in CHEM 111. Rather than having an entire lab report due for each lab, we would focus on only a few sections at a time, which really helped me to understand how to write each section of a lab report properly.
