I was really hesitant to take this spanish class, since I hadn’t taken the language since my junior year of high school. However, I was pleasantly surprised with how this class went for me. The professor made it less about how fluent you were and how perfect your writing was, but rather that we all practiced to get better, which I can definitely say I did. Learning a language is something that takes a lot of skill that isn’t normally used in my other science classes, and I enjoyed utilizing those skills.
The artifact I chose to insert below was one where we had to create a new device/invention and then describe it in spanish. This involved a lot of vocabulary that I was unfamiliar with in spanish, so it forced me to speak around the word, which actually led me to understanding the language much more. I think I can utilize these skills in other classes in the future as a form of problem solving. When the answer isn’t always clear, there can be a way to work around it to achieve the answer.
