Resident Assistant
Longwood has provided me with amazing opportunities to learn and grow as an individual, student and leader. I first got involved by becoming a resident assistant. I have a passion for helping people and this position allowed me to do just that! My first year as a RA was the 2017-2018 academic school year. I had all first year student in an all girls residence hall. I created activities that were fun and educational for them, aided them with personal and academic needs, and built a strong sense of community on my hall so that they felt at home while at Longwood. This position taught me how to be a better leader and more compassionate. I would not be the person I am today if I had not become a resident assistant.
Alpha Phi Omega
Longwood has also provided me a brotherhood that has become a second family to me. Fall 2018, I decided to join Alpha Phi Omega, a co-ed service fraternity. I felt that serving my community and college would help me further pursue my passion of helping people. Through this organization I have pushed myself outside of my comfort zone. I have helped with a range of service projects ranging from taking care of horses to assisting James River State Park with their fall festival. Alpha Phi Omega has given me the opportunity to help others and gave me a place to call home.
