ENGL/PHIL 351 fulfilled the Global Citizenship/Aesthetic Perspective. This class used a combination of philosophy and literature to create an image of the ideal citizen leader. We read numerous literary works that reflected the ideal and the poor citizen leader and numerous philosophical works that discussed the ethics behind being a leader. My greatest takeaway from this class was the literary examples of the ideal and poor citizen leader. It is one thing to have an idea of what a leader is in your head but reading and visualizing about different types of leaders helped me grasp the understanding of what it truly means to be a citizen leader and not just a leader.
As my artifact for this course I am including my final essay that I wrote for the class that includes a discussion about one of the literary works we read and how it relates to the class’ philosophical discussions of being an ethical leader.
