Hello! My name is Shawna McCann, I am a senior at Longwood University! I am a social work major and I have been studying this field all four years that I have attended Longwood. I wanted to be a social work major since high school. When I attended a missions trip with my church, I found a desire to want to help children in any capacity and social work lets me do just that. I have done an 180-hour internship at a skilled nursing home and I have another internship coming up with a child abuse rehabilitation center. I volunteer at my church in the children’s ministry, a food pantry, as well as in various other locations in my community.

The purpose of this ePortfolio is to demonstrate my learning through a collection of my class work done throughout this semester’s English 400 class. Within this ePortfolio includes a few of my journal entries form our Textbook Thank you for Arguing by Jay Heinrichs , my Rhetorical Analysis, and my Common Good Project. I have been able to accomplish all of these assignments through the help of my professor and the peers in my class. The assignments and activities that I partook in improved my active citizenship writing ability by pushing me to write about important public issues and formulate opinions and try to convince my audience to take my side.
