Hello. My name is Abbey Mays. I am a student at <\/span>Longwood University<\/a>, where I study <\/span>Therapeutic Recreation<\/a> and I am working towards becoming a <\/span>certified therapeutic recreation specialist<\/a>. I became interested in recreational therapy when I first joined <\/span>project connection<\/a>, a program that pairs a student with children with a disability, as a sophomore in high school. This opened my eyes to a new career path that I did not know was available and led me to the program at Longwood University. I believe that recreation is a great way to relax and has infinite therapeutic properties that can be utilized. My personal interests in the field of therapeutic recreation is adventure therapy and art therapy because I have a strong love for both the outdoors and self-expression through art and want to share it with the world.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Hello.
