In the spring of 2019, I took an English Honors course called Major Black Writers. In this class, we read and analyzed the written works of many important black writers throughout history. This class was incredibly engaging and interesting to me because each work that we read was vastly different than the last, both in content and type of writing. We read articles, novels, poetry, plays, and autobiographies, so there was really something to interest everyone in the class. I read a huge amount of writing that I would have never looked at before because of this class, and I am so glad that I was able to do so!
My artifact from this class is an analysis that I wrote on the book Sing, Unburied, Sing by Jesmyn Ward. This essay demonstrates my ability to read, analyze, and articulate my thoughts on written works. I was able to connect this reading to an overarching idea about society as a whole in this essay, and I am very proud of it!
