For this course, we discussed how when humans flourish together when they have community and relations with those around them. To begin, we looked at Aristotle and Socrates to understand Aristotelian Eudaimonia which was the bases for the entire class. After, we moved on to reading more recent pieces of work in order to apply it to today’s life. Coming together as people can be challenging especially during COVID-19.
The biggest part of this course was the final group project. Since this course was about coming together as humans to flourish together, this project was a group project and the idea behind it was how could we create a place where people can flourish or spend some time in contemplative thought. As a class, we decided to create a brochure for contemplative practices that Longwood students could participate in as well as give them locations of places where they could walk to while they were thinking. While we could not get the actual project together, we did come together as a class and created a brochure and pitched the idea.
