In this course, my professor helped us all to enjoy learning a new language that is challenging for many. She gave us many hands on exercises to help us understand what we were learing better. For example, when we were learning the words for different dining objects (knife, fork, spoon, plate, cup, bowl, etc.), Dr. Rosado gave us paper objects and had us hold up the correct object when she said it in Spanish to help us grasp the differences better. She also allowed us to understand the Spanish culture better by having us do a presentation one aspect of the culture with a partner.

This is the Spanish culture presentation that I worked on with a classmate. We looked at the song “Lost in the Middle of Nowhere (Spanish Remix)” by Kane Brown and Becky G to analyze the lyrics and explain it to the class. We also looked into the background of the singers to figure out if they came from Hispanic descent and to figure out how they learned the Spanish language.
