Letter to Senior Self

Hi Morgan,

You are currently wrapping up your first year at Longwood. You have had many ups and downs throughout the year. You have made friends, tried new things, and worked hard to keep your grades up. These are things you need to continue to do throughout the years.

I don’t know what “college life” will look like moving forward as a result of the coronavirus, but strive to keep a positive attitude and a grateful heart. You are currently considering graduating a year early. If that is something you continue wanting to do, put your heart and soul into making it happen. If it just won’t work, be patient with yourself.

I hope you have continued to support the organizations you have joined. I also hope you have made new friends and treasured the friends you have made in the past. You have been feeling a little overwhelmed lately, so I hope you are learning to take life one step at a time.

In regards to the future, I hope you have made a well-informed decision about what your next step in life entails. The options you are currently considering are working in a hospital with stroke victims, going to audiology school, or pursing your MBA. Whatever you choose, I hope that you consider what will make you the most happy and leave a positive impact on the lives of others. Do not let your fears hold you back, you are capable of great things.

Continue to sing in the shower. Continue to laugh out loud. Continue to talk to strangers. These are the things that make you, you. Remember that a person can change and grow, but never forget where you come from or who helped you along the way. Give all your college-graduate friends a big hug for me, they are rockstars. Tell your family thank you, they have always been by your side.

Congratulations,

Morgan, the freshman version.
