KINS 215: Exercise is Medicine

In this class, I examined the effect of physical activity on the maintenance of health and prevention and management of diseases by understanding the relationship between individuals, social structure and exercise behaviors.  I also developed a thorough understanding of how social institutions and cultural norms affect patterns and trends in physical activity.  I gained an understanding of how to promote physical activity in a variety of populations/settings.  Some topics emphasized past and current issues in national government policies and recommendations, environmental influences, socioeconomic status, racial disparities, age/gender considerations, social influence and personal bias.

I enjoyed going to this class every Tuesday and Thursday.  The topics that we explored in this class made me realized how much I enjoy kineseolgy.  It was awesome to take this class at the same time as Anatomy and Physiology as well since they had some similar information talked about in the course.
