HONS CTZN 110: Bodies and Citizens

In this course we explored the relationships between bodies and citizenship in the United States.  We had many group discussions about how people treat others differently depending on looks or identification.  Some topics that we explored included the conflicting ideas about bodies held by Native Americans and Euro-Americans, American slavery, obstacles to citizenship for LGBTQ folks, reproductive rights and justice, and more.

I thought this class was very interesting, as the topics we discussed and learned more about are very important and don’t get talked about as much as they should.  The small class size was perfect for this subject as well, having around twelve students in order to thoroughly discuss topics together.  I enjoyed attending this class every Tuesday and Thursday during the fall semester.
