Scholarship

Academics have always been important to me.  It is not only about achieving good grades in classes, but the knowledge that comes along by learning the material.  I believe that intelligence adds a lot to a person.  Someone who can think deeply and critically by analyzing and deconstructing a topic shows different perspectives, as well as their own, and to me that describes character and confidence.

I ran cross country in high school, and by doing so I realized what mental strength is and how people can train their body to do something that their brain doesn’t want to do.  The majority of the people who ran and did well in cross country additionally did exceedingly well in school.  The power to use mental strength to train yourself to run long, fast distances is the same strategies used to think more critically and do school assignments that honestly do not seem appealing.  People who succeed and do well in school and life typically have this winner mindset and will to do well even when at times when they are not as motivated, the long term goal still shows its presence.
