Learning about United States history from 1877 to modern times wasn’t exactly new for me. I have taken history classes every year since middle school so most of the information wasn’t exactly new to me. However, professor Meadows went into great depth and detail during his lectures which I found interesting. This was surprising to me because I’ve never been a fan of history. I learned from this class that I am pretty good at writing history papers from my experience in high school with IB history classes. Those classes were writing based and I didn’t realize how much I would use those skills in college until this course.
The paper I attached was the first paper we wrote for this course about different Civil Rights leaders. Instead of only learning about what happened throughout the Cicil Rights movement, we learned about the opinions toward African Americans from well-known Civil Rights leaders. This was particularly interesting to me because I liked learning and write about how these opinions changed over time.
